One often tends to jeopardize his or her sanity in trying to come up with that perfect color which says that the place is their “home”. ‘The living room’, the battlefield for social interactions, perhaps, is one of those spaces couples haggle over the most. Be it serene blue or fiery red, the living room color schemes play one of the most important roles in portraying ones character as it is or as they want it to be portrayed. Therefore, adorning the bare walls of the living space with colors reflecting the individual, couple or family’s personality becomes a decision of paramount importance.
If one has a large living space, the living room color schemes should preferably be of darker shades. Otherwise, lighter shades best drape the walls of living spaces. Darker color schemes force ones line of vision downwards. However, lighter shades open up the space and enhance ones line of vision. Therefore, shades like “wild lilac” and “sky blue” tend to bring about an inert yet versatile backdrop. For this purpose, you can choose a black and white combination of furniture to go well with the color scheme. This will give the room have a more relaxed laidback feeling.

One of the living room color schemes that perhaps are more pertinent in today’s world is the color green. In some cultures, the color green symbolizes hope and growth. Its most common association however is with nature. People who characterize themselves as poets or lovers of nature can always try for an understated, elegant green living room with dark brown or wicker furniture to give that natural feeling to the space. One could also try the warmer apple green color to enliven the space and decorate it with steel furniture to give it a global corporate look.
Those with a large living space can always choose the living room color schemes to be dark brown, coffee, brick red or chocolate shaded. This brings about a cosy yet royal feeling to the entire area and is perfect to house elegant cocktail parties. The place decorated with mahogany or rose wood furniture and draped with a lot of glass and silver is ideal to bring about an old world Victorian charm to the whole living room.
